scout_50mm_easy_edf_jet_aircraft_image_1

I finally felt ready to put together everything ive learned into one jet thats easy to fly for beginner EDF pilots. So many people that are new in my facebook group ask the same question. "I'm new to EDF's, whats the easiest plane to fly" most responses are different. Now the answer is easy. The Scout.

It flies almost identical to the Aeroscout but in my option easier because it doesnt have any prop wash over the rear control surfaces. I keep the thrust in the exhast pipe and it exits past the elevators and rudder. The scout flies light, slow, fast and hand launches on 50% power. It will also slow down and it wont wing tip stall when landing slow.

You can use a rudder if you like. I flew it with zero rudder and its great.

Never buy a 3d printed airplane unless you see start to finish unedited flights. Watch if its easy to hand launch. easy to land, any strange flight characteristics

Parts Needed

-Any 50mm Fan 3 or 4s is fine. I use https://a.co/d/1LfahQg
-Any 40amp esc https://a.co/d/2ZHzWUB
-Five 4.3 g servos https://a.co/d/7ADlAGA
-Servo y adapter for the aileron servos https://a.co/d/7uYSPBS
-1300 4 is recommended https://a.co/d/2nV7Gp1 1500-1800 is fine.
-1.2mm pushrod https://a.co/d/51b2xDF
-velcro for the battery and ESC
-Hot glue for the EDF and servos
-Medium CA glue to assemble the whole plane
Carbon tube isn’t required! If you’re doing crazy aerobatics with a heavy load use a 11” X 8mm OD

Only trick with assembly is to remember to run the elevator / rudder servo wires through the Horizontal tail and the back fuselage section before gluing the last fuselage part together.

Pre flight checks
-Make sure your plane balances on the Bumps under the wing
-aileron deflection 16mm up and down
-elevator deflection 15mm up and down
these measurments are my personal preference.
